Crisis training courses

Media training

With our personalized media training we prepare your BoD, your management team and your location and communication managers for talking with your stakeholders and handling the press. We jointly customize the training course; usually it consists of both a theoretical part and (role-playing) exercises where you learn how to deal with cameras, microphones and tricky interview questions. We provide the training together with our experienced cameraman. Up to 8 people at a time can participate in the media training course.

Gatekeeper training

It´s not just management that has to deal with crisis communication. In fact, crisis reports usually come in first to the reception, or reach the organization via in-house emergency and first-aid response team members or other personnel. In our gatekeeper training we show these ´gatekeepers´ what the effect can be of crisis reports that are dealt with incorrectly (or not at all), and we provide them with techniques and forms for properly passing the crisis report on to the right people. We use our cameraman in this training as well so as to make the training as realistic as possible. Up to 10 people at a time can participate in the gatekeeper training course.


Disaster training

Another important pillar in our preparation for a crisis is our disaster training. This concept too is custom-tailored to your organization. The goal of disaster training is to train the in-house emergency and first-aid response team and the crisis management team (CMT) for all of their tasks during a disaster and how to work together most effectively. The disaster training has three components:

  • in-house emergency and first-aid response team
    This training goes further than the purely communicative. We begin (together with your own or our in-house emergency and first-aid response team partner) with a detailed in-house emergency and first-aid response team scenario, where your organization is confronted with e.g. a simulated fire, an evacuation or victim assistance.
  • Media attention and interviews
    Then one of the crisis consultants from Wisse Kommunikatie, together with its cameraman, conducts several interviews about the incident, while the other crisis consultants call up your employees with questions on behalf of the daily papers and current affairs and news shows.
  • Social media
    Virtually simultaneously with the interviews things explode on the social media and your communication

Online and social training headlines: "According to the Healthcare Inspectorate, conditions in a large elderly care organization in the East of the country have gotten so bad that one of its clients died this week. The 85 year-old man was found in his room in an extremely dehydrated state; the personnel believed that he had been away visiting at his son´s home. The client was immediately transported to the nearest hospital, where he died the following day.”

Presentation training

If you want to be truly well prepared for giving a presentation, we like to put you in front of our cameras. Despite the training setting, our experienced interviewers and cameramen know how to generate that little bit of pressure so that the exercise approximates the real thing. After a number of practice runs and theoretical lessons, you´ll be able to stand confidently in front of a group.

You should enter into interviews, not undergo them. And that can be tought.

Lesson 1: Know what you are going to say.

In our messaging training, together with you and your team we develop the messages that are most effective for your target groups and for your situation. Then we'll show you how best to get those messages across. The ready-made tips and insights from the training are of course not only useful in a TV studio; you can also benefit from them in daily work situations.

Spokesperson training

In our spokesperson training we discuss what the playing field of a spokesperson is or should be, and how you can fulfill your own role. The training also provides information about the context in which a spokesperson works and media relations take place. Moreover, the trainer puts the key messages on paper together with the participants. The training is concluded with an interview training in front of the camera in which the foregoing is put into practice.
